UNBREAKABLE

I redesigned my rear suspension and I moved my axle back so now I don't want to put the factory bed back on. It is in good shape and I can sell it pretty easy 'round here for a good bit of $$$. So here's the thing I don't want to put the All-pro kit on. I can weld, bend and, everything else that goes along with it. I just want some ideas and pics to see what y'all got and what works and doesn't.
Thanks

I really dig "biteme"s that is something like I want to do. Anymore pics any ideas thing you like/dislike. I am putting a custom fuel cell in also. 1 thing that I really dig that I am doing is putting the rear heat control and heater core (out of a SR-5 4 runner) into it's on custom box on the bed, with 1 or 2 hook-ups for 2 1/2" -3" ducting to hook up into a tent for winter wheeling and camping. I am also planning on building some kind of a removeable rack on top to put a Hannible style tent onto. Something to think about...what ya think 'bout it?  Oh and 1 more thing, I am going to put a 8k warn under there also.

In the rear I built cantilever shackles, drop hangers(both shackle and spring hanger)  running 63's, 38.5 Boggers on 16x10 soon to be beadlock wheels and, for the time being a 14 bolt. Here is a previous shot I had (no rear springs installed YET!)

I want to tie into some 2" rock rails also. I like how biteme's has the 45 that ties into it.

I've seen it before. I like it but I just not sure 'bout the tire carrier.

Why's that? It does block my view out the back. It also sits high so adds to body roll. But it is out of the way and allows me to actually have a bed. A fair trade off, for me. I have thought of redesigning the   swing out so it will also swing up and down. Allowing the tire to sit flat when I don't need the bed. But I'm going to be selling the truck and I doubt that will get done.

That is what I don't dig I guess. Rear visability. I didn't really think about the body roll it would cause. What about the wind resistance it brings. Does it bring alot of noise? I like it, don't get me wrong, just with out the tire carrier.

The rear visabillty was a trade off. I have big side mirrors to help compensate. The body roll is not too much of an issue with my truck because I don't have super soft springs. It's a daily driver so I had to keep it tame. It corners pretty well considering it's an uncut truck on 37s. No wind noise at all and for the drag. I'm not sure. There must be some. Another trade off I guess.  No worries :D
HELLO

DeMented Toys

Seeing as how I have been unable to find a good bed for my 92 shortbed, I will more than likely fabricate a flatbed for it instead.  Has anyone thought about building a flatbed and putting fiberglass bedsides on the outsides?  That thought just occured to me.  Why not have a functional bed inside of a pair of mounted fiberglass bedsides?  It is kind of a toss up between that Idea and going with a modified all-pro design.

90TOYPU  If I were to go with that style of bed, do you know where I could come up with plans for it?  Having plans would save me alot of time and effort.   :crossed:

Sorry, I'm not aware of any plans to build something like this. As far as the fiberglass bedsides. To most it  would defeat the purpose of having a flatbed. But if it fits what you want, go for it. I will post a picture of when I built my bed. It might help a little.
HELLO

That thing looks pretty cool with all the sides removed

I'm not sure about everyone else, but for me the purpose of having a flatbed is because my factory bed is rusted out / damaged.  I don't forsee the fiberglass sides cutting down on cargo space  or restricting wheel travel...   :dunno:  Perhaps I am overlooking something though.  I want to be sure to think this project through before I start fabricating, so if anyone has any thoughts, I would like to hear them.   :eyebrow:

Thanks for the ideas.  to all who helped out. If anyone finds anymore pics of flatbeds...Post up. Thanks again I have pretty much figured out what I want to do.

To The Floor

I want to do something very similar to the all pro flatbed, but I don't like the rectangular taillights in the little crossmember.  so i am going to make that crossmember with the hitch in it, but for taillights set up two pieces of triangular diamond plate and run round leds....picture
in the projects nooga, anything goes

UNBREAKABLE

Do you have any side shots of the bed?
