Cool camp spots!?!?
« on: Apr 14, 2009, 11:28:01 AM »
So every year for my buddies birthday about 20 of us go to Lake Camp Far West. The last 2 years its been like camping on the moon due to low water levels. So Im calling on the board for some cool Lake/River spots. Not really looking for wheelin(but that would be a plus) just somewhere to make some noise, drink some brew, and jump in a body of water. We are in Davis, CA. Hope you all got something, pictures would be awesome too! Thanks, Austin

Depending on where you go, Berryessa can be cool.  If you go around the lake up to spanish flats, there's some area up there that don't get as crowded as the southern end of the lake, and there's cliffs to jump off too.

Great advice...not much is better than drunk guys jumping off cliffs!  :gap:

of course I wouldn't recommend jumping off the cliffs and drinking at the same time.

Oh of course not! You might cut your lip on the can. Plus, I'm sure there is some regulation in Kali about beer pollution!

Sooo...do you recommend drinking first or jumping first?

Probably :gap:  Of course, if you jump from high enough, you risk swallowing the can.

I recommend drinking after :gap:

 good call.  Forgot about that area.  And the whole way into meadow lake from 89 is cool, plus there's a lot of wheeling from easy to hard as well.  :yesnod:

We will only jump with plastic bottles. That should keep it safe.

Nice list guys thanks! Im always looking for new spots

We go to camp far the weekend before memorial day. It used to be nice when the water was up to the trees in the overflow area but last 2 years its sucked.

Thanks again

Salt Springs Resivour, Between Kirkwood and Jackson off hwy 88.  Undeveloped but nice flat area with fire rings, you got cliff jumping, fishing, a little wheeling and its all free.  Oh yeah Calaveras Dome is overhead, and provides alot of rock climbing (mini-Yosemite).    Really nice in July,August,Sept.

Here is a few http://gentryoffroad.com/
Most of them are under snow until summer, and if the cliff is high enough you can drink the beer on the way down
