93 pickup 22re timing
« on: Apr 13, 2009, 03:18:26 PM »
I have a 93 pickup with a 22re engine. It had a blown head gasket and when i finished putting it all back together it will crank but not without giving it gas. It wont idle when it hits about 3000 rpm it sounds good. I dont have any aparent vac leeks but maybe crossed. If the cam gear is off a tooth will it still crank?

here's a online manuel http://www.ncttora.com/fsm/1993/engine.html

with the crank on TDC   where is your top mark on the cam  it should be off to the left  a little   also  check that the rotor is pointing at   #1 wire on the cap

yes it will but  it wont run too good

remove the valve cover, then put the crank pulley timing mark on 0*, then look at where your cam timing is at, the cam mark should be about 1/2 a tooth to the left (as looking at the engine from the front) of 12 o clock
