Older warn winch problems...
« on: Apr 11, 2009, 08:53:08 PM »
Sooo I finally got my old 5000 pound warn winch mounted up under my bed and hooked up. I had the motor rebuild and bought a new remote for it. I was running the winch out by the romote and with my finger on the reverse toggle the winch changed direction and started feedeing back in? Anyone have any idea what would cause this? When I try to go out it goes in and when I try to go in it does nothing but drags the battery down with no cable movement. Any help or ideas on what to look for would be great thanks guys and gals..

You need to check your solenoids. I'd bet you have one of more that are bad.
Hug your kids, pray for a soldier, and don't sweat the small stuff.

Mounted under you bed?  Pics?

Under the bed, to be hidden and out of the way until it's time to extract a stuck Jeep?

Usually you don't need the full strength of the winch.  Especially if you carry a turnblock, so you can double the line.  This puts less stress on the motor and allows you to pull more.

Also, I would think 5000lbs would be enough for a yota, more would be nice, but not required.
