Like title says, my engine is acting funny. Its a 83 22r swapped into an 81. It was fine for a while, but now if i try and get on it at all, it acts like its flooded, wants to cut out. If I push in the clutch pedal, I can rev it as high as I want, but under load, it wants to fall on its face. if im easy on the throttle, its fine. I checked my plugs, wires, distributor, got a new fuel pump, and checked filter. Want to know what everyone thinks. Maybe I just need a new carb?

how is your timing? when was the last time you replaced your fuel filter

also, have you checked for vacuum leaks?

was all the vacuum stuff on the 83 the same as what was on the 81? rather is the 81 truck trying to see an 81 engine or is it freaking out because vacuum stuff isnt hooked up right?

You may well just have a plugged passage in the carb or something, just kinda sounds like a fuel delivery issue, especially since it will free rev just fine but cuts out when there's a load on it.

so, where do you suggest I look for my fuel prob? Ive taken a carb off, but never took one apart, is it complicated? All optional vacuum lines are plugged.

check to see if the accelorator pump is opperating normally.

remove the air cleaner open the choke hit the throttle with your hand you sould see the accelorator pump pee fuel into the passenger side venturri
