truck wont idle

ok i have an 84 22r and for some reason it will not idle. it works fine while driving but anytime i stop its shuts off. what do you think the problem is?

You have a solenoid on the passenger side of the carb.  If the wire is not connected the truck will run fine everywhere else but won't idle.

hot wire it and see if will idle, if not its just crap in the idle jet.
