Hahah yeah coming from Reno through Truckee on 80 sucks in a straight axle toyota cruising the slow lane. That road is haggard. Coming back from Rubicon last year I thought my truck was going to come apart it was so loud

I have a 3.0, 529s and 35s. I get about 15mpg in the city and about 18 on the freeway. 60mph @2750 rpms. Speed is known with use a gps
Dr.Maxwe001 – well i have a 15 gal compressor now and if I gett he 60  and then use the 15 as a reserve that wil give me 75 gal  thats close to 80 isnt it ?

My stereo shut off on me all of the sudden after going up, I found the damn fuse on the floor.... Normally I lay my phone on the dash and its just fine but damn I couldnt leave anything there it would just bounce right off. I noticed as we went back up and over on the way home it wasnt as bad, definatly some crappy spots but nowhere near as bad as the first time.

QuoteI have 32" bfg ats and 4.88s. 65mph in my truck is right at 3000 rpm 70 is 3500rpm. Its my daily driver so around town its great but the freeway and big hills suck, if I can cruise at 55 all day i'm ok lol. I live in Boise, Id so we went down through Jordan Valley where my upper rad hose sprung a leak, right before town thankfully. Drove on down through Reno and then hit Donner Pass, on the steep parts I was in 3rd gear pushing about 35 sometimes 40mph and getting passed by big rigs and busses   I have to say the slow lane is HORRIBLE! It felt like I was on a rough dirt road the whole way up. And just for the hell of it here's a pic at the rest stop at the summit....

I would think that w/the 32's and 4.88's you should have been able to maintain a better speed.  I know I can clip along at 65-70 mph until the last section then drop to about 50-55 w/33's & 4.88's behind my 3.0.

I jumped in with both feet with everyones advise 3yrs ago. I installed 529's and an aussie locker (www.aussielocker.com) in the rear with 35" tires. I never looked back with any regrets. Heck the motor and trans thinks it's back to stock. I pull a 16ft trailer with 2buggies, rescue folks time to time, Its my DD(80 miles round trip), just drove it to the king of the hammers out in cali(i live in AZ). I love it. I did though, have it put together by a pro ZUK at www.gearinstalls.com. He's a nice guy and honest too. Hope this helps.
