I had some early 90's escort seats in but they where way to tall and my head would hit the roof. I am just looking to see what most people are using. thx  :beerchug:

i have 96 civic seats in my second gen and they are awesome, much better than the stockers. only downside i would say is that they raise you maybe an inch or so. not too much for me but if your a real big guy then they might raise you too high.

1st & 2nd gen MR2 seats will work nicely, and shouldn't reduce the headroom or that much leg room.

ford ranger seats,  I had them in a 85, very comfortable. I put these from a 98 ranger in my 83,  I did have to modifie the rear part of the mounts it sits a little higher than the factory Toyota seat and WAY more comfortable. I have them in the truck now,  I can post a pic later  (camera @ the shop) if you want me to

I had escort seats in my 1st Gen, and they did reduce head room by quite a bit. I had leather late 90's accord seats in my 89. They sat nice and low.
stupid people shouldn't have kids.

I will try to bring the photo card tomorrow      i had to cut the mounts off the back and reweld them (lower) and drill holes in the front of the seat mount    other than that they work out pretty good.

I had some sammy seats that worked.  Fit nicely at least in the 1st gen cab.  Looks like I've got 90 accord seats currently (same as 4runnerchevy )  A bit bigger than the sammy seats, although much more comfortable, not as much leg room.  (as you can see in 4runnerchevy's pic.. :O )

KLYLO , Looks like you've got alot of leg room with those seats.  How's the head room?  Do you miss the adjustability?  Got the rails under the seats?

I'm 6'2" and have plenty off room, sliders would be nice for getting behind the seats but I have them mounted as far back as they will go and they're fine.

sorry it took me so long to get these pics up     it's hard to see the rear mount   I cut them in half, flipped the base to face outward and welded them on at the height I wanted, passenger side,, drivers side   I'm 5'11"  and I have plenty of leg and head room

So my 84 came with some GM seats in it that were too big for me and the truck.  I picked up a set of 1995 Carolla seats off craigslist, and started modifying the brackets to fit.  I still have some welding and drilling to do, but they're going to have to wait for the weather to get warm again :camping:

I like the stocker seat in my 82 just fine. Mine was a little thread bare with some rips etc. The foam was still there, but breaking down a bit due to age. So, I had the old seat foam shaved out, and built back up and then they recovered the seat. I also picked up the same material from them to do the door panels with when I'm ready. Now all I need to do is yank out the carpet some day when I know exactly what I want to replace it with.

The guys did a great job on the seat. It's much more comfortable than it was, and easly feels as good as any new seat would. A pair of aftermarket seats probably would have costed more, but mostly I just wanted to keep the original (almost original, the owner changed it from buckets to bench back in the 80's) in it.

I like mid to late 80s nissan 300zx seats in mine.  Good adjustability, lumbar support and some nice side bolstering you can adjust nice and tight for the trail/twisty roads, then open up some for daily driving.

I put a set of recarro's out of an MR2 into an '86 std. I restored, and there was actually more leg and head room than with the bench seat.

Same rig w/bench

You should be able to get the same results by using a set of buckets out of a 2nd gen stad. cab.  The ones in the '84 (2wd) I am restoring for my nephew seem to provide a good amount of leg room for me at 6'2".
