i wouldnt run a muffler.  just get a glasspack...  for your exhaust.  use 2 inch pipe and usually exhaust bends are mandrel bent.  I have angle cuts in my exhaust and i have no bends just angled cuts in the pipe so it produces back preassure but i get one hell of a kick.   so it should be something like this is what im trying to explain......

If you're into glass packs, #1 Dynomax #2 Magnaflow.

If you're into rat traps, then go Flowmaster. 40 series might be a bit loud (2 chamber), so I would go with a 50 series (3-chamber).

Ive been running Dynomax's on my MR2 during all four exhaust systems I've ran. Very happy and they are built very well. No rust or leaks or any complaints at all.

I am running an LC header, magnaflow hi-flo cat, and a Flowmaster 40 series and it is LAF.  If you are going to run a header, no cat, and a muffler I'd go like BigMike said and run a Flomaster 50 series.  And I would run in to the axle, bend up and over it, then turn it down right before the rear bumper....just to get s'more back pressure and quiet it down a little.
in the projects nooga, anything goes

2.25 inch pipe to a 2 chamber flowmaster,2.25 inch tailpipe and dump it before your rear axle. :flamer:

I'd say go with the two chamber flowmaster, it puts out a bad ass sound, I can't wait til I throw my header on. If you dont like a loud strong sound then go with the dynomax.I wouldnt go with the three chamber flowmaster, seems kinda :stopit:

Its got the ENGNBLDR.COM 270 cam, a FREE downey header and a cone K&N filter, the new motor kicks ass compared to the beat 22re that was in it (blown head gasket, wasted crank, block needed to be line bored), its very snappy, and gots a ton o mid-range
