totally custom clutch!!!
« on: Dec 29, 2008, 05:39:25 PM »
so i just bought another toyota its an 83 4wd all it needed was a clutch. the guy couldnt figure out what was wrong with it cause he just put a new clutch in.... well i started tearing into it and noticed only 1 bolt was holding the engine to the tranny and there was about a 3/4" gap between the motor and tranny on the bottom side  :nerv: ...  there were also no retaining clips on the clutch fork to the Throwout bearing.

have a couple questions too... will a 20r clutch work on a 22r? and i have never looked around but can you buy the retaining clips anywhere?

AND HERE'S WHAT IT LOOKED LIKE WHEN I PULLED IT OUT!

same clutch  and you can get the clips from the dealer  or change to the 88 and later t/o bearing

i can tell from looking at it it was new, and  the fork went into the pressure plate, hence  exploding i would be surprised it the input shaft wasn't damaged

poor clutch disc disintegrated

I dont know how the fork went around the throwout bearing? if I remember right my fork wont fit over the bearing to hit the pressure plate even without the clips.....I could be wrong....
