I am new here... so bare with me please.  I have always owned Toyota's, over 15 first gen 4runners... parted out a ton of old Yoters...
Anyway just pickup up a '87 bone stock auto 2wd.  Here's the deal.... I have a '84 straight axle... have a matching set of 4:33's,  4 extra motors... a bunch of tranny/ t-cases....a V6 rear end...  Ton's and ton's of other yota parts form all the ones I cut up.  I am driving a '87 runner with 388,000 miles... it's really clean for the east coast.  I was planning on SAS'n the runner... but figure it's a good driver.  Picked this 2WD up for $200....   Looks like the frames are the same.  Seems like the power steering box and the idler are in need of a little frame mods to work with the 4wd stuff... and the cross member needs some sort of mounting points made.  I'm not worried about the tranny swap as far as, auto to stick... the clutch pedals I have... looks like they bolt right in... the clutch master has the flange molded into the fire wall... just need to drill holes.
I'd rather not lift it more than 2''s... as I would like to use as a work/play truck.  So I am trying to keep on the cheap....
Anyone have any idea's...  I would like to call Marlin to get my parts ordered... get the SAS all done...  figure out what I can do for some low lift leaf springs...
has anyone on here done one of these... or know someone who has?  And please don't tell me I am wasting my time...  I am planning on doing this... I know how to weld... have a big mig, big tig, plasma, a torch.... I'm not 18 or 25... I have had a Yota for over 16 years.... I am dead serious... and would like any responses to be the same.. I am here to get this worked out, before I start cutting everything off and coming up short.
  Thank all....

Ok I see.....  I found White_Trash's build....  I guess he used the Marlin Steering plate kit...?

boggerunner

it can be done, and has been done alot, lets see some pics, im rockin 4.33 gears with 37 mtr's

yeah this is done alot i have seen one get build but in stages im not possitive but do believe that you have to change the oil pan on the motor or the axle will hit it. the frame is the same and all the kits from marlin will work. the best way to do a lift like to want is rears from a 1st gen runner or a 2nd gen pickup (square fender style) up front and find some 63" chevys for the rear. it wont lift the truck much but it is very soft and tears it up.

so are you saying the front and rear leafs are the same length off the yoters?

80_yota_pickup

i dont have one here to check but i would bet that the rear is a bit longer i know that it has more of an arch to it. i will check on the length tomorrow and get back to ya.

the rears are about 3" longer and move your axle 1.5" forward i think.

80_yota_pickup

boggerunner has the answer and yeah it moves it forward an inch or 2 max
