carb runin rich in hight elevation

i have a 85 toy with a carb on it. i live at about 800ft. it runs a little rich there but when i go to about 5500ft it is way to rich. i was just seeing if a hotter spark plug would help? i dont whant to mess with the carb if i dont have to cuz it passes smog just fine how it is. has any one tryed this? :dunno:

I would lean it out a bit if it runs a little rich near sea level.

you will always run richer at elevation due to oxygen levels being lower. MSD helps to burn the extra fuel. You could also reduce the pressure with a regulator but it'd kinda be a PITA to change it every time you get up there.

wouldnt that be kinda like a hotter plug? i was just seeing if any one has tryed it. ya i thought about a pressure reg.
