cross over steering arm
« on: Dec 08, 2008, 08:41:30 AM »
Hey guys.  The pitman arm on my 91 pickup is bad. The toyota dealership told me this when they did my relay rod recall. I didnt believe them, so i checked it out and sure enough it is. My question is will the Marlin Crawler cross over steering arm (part # mc-13530) work on a stock truck? I am only trying to find something of a little better quality than some auto zone cheepy. If this will not work, do you fellas have any other suggestions? Would it be better just to get one from the dealer, or somewhere else?

Agreed, The toyota OEM will be better then an auto zone cheepy. Best bet is to get a toyota one. The crossover steering arm that marlins got wont work for the ifs on your 91.

Thanks for the info. When the dealership did the recall they told me that to fix it along with outer tie rods it was gunna be seven hundred dollars, parts plus labor. I obviously opted to not have them do it. To change the pitman arm am i gunna need a puller of some sort?

You can rent the puller from most auto part stores or buy a cheap one.

:yesnod:

Autozone actually rents them for free, or used to.  You just leave a deposit with them, and get it refunded when you take it back.
