If you are going to be here to put down what i believe and input why you think the LDS church is crap please take it else where to another thread. Start a why mormons should not believe what they do thread.Thank you,Ryan K.
I am one , but out of curiosity... What do you know about the religion? What are your opinions about the members of The Latter Day Saints? Why, in your opinion, is this christian sect perceived as a cult?Free to discussion by anyone. I just ask that everyone keeps this clean and no bashing goes down.
He is free to post what he wants, free countryI just ask that this doesn't go south....Other than that fair game. I actually read through most of all those threads, I love to hear others opinions and I am truly fascinated by all beliefs in this world. I have my own beliefs obviously and they work for me. And as it said at the end of the South Park episode about Mormons:"Maybe us Mormons do believe in stories that make no sense and maybe Joesph Smith did make it all up, but I have a great life and a great family and I have the book of Mormon to thank for that. The truth is I don't care if Joseph smith made it all up because what the church teaches now is loving your family, being nice and helping, and all i wanted to be was your friend..."
With so many religions and so many views on who, what, and where you go it is very hard to know what is the right one and which is wrong. Most say if you are not baptized into theirs then hell you will go or some other place. Due to this confusion I decided that no organized religion is the true one since I don't know which god is is the true god. For this reason I have no allegiance to any one faith, I believe but I don't believe any one religion is the correct one.
My outlook to, whatever works for you and is good for your perspectives
Exactly. If it were true that if you were not babtized into one religion or another you would go to hell; (which, BTW, is NOT what we LDS beleive) Then most chinese, indian, african, and others that have never even heard of Christ would be toast. I don't beleive in a god that would give them no chance at all.
Remember you are talking to a baptized LDS here too, I know for a fact that LDS does believe that you will not be admitted to the higher kingdoms unless you are baptized Mormon. Of course those that do die before being enlightened, are given an opportunity to except it through proxy baptisms. Then and only then can you be even given that chance.
I cant not tell you how hard i laughed at that
Basically a living person is baptized for those that have died giving that person the opportunity to accept the gospel. That's why genealogy is an important process to be completed so that you can have given your entire family history the opportunity to be baptized. My brother a Melchizedek Priest (Elder) has traced our family to its roots and baptized every last one. He is also responsible for the Elders on their missions in San Fernando, Ca so he does a lot of work.
Shopping on Sundays? Is it true Mormons are not allowed to shop on Sundays? And if so, why? Are there other things not allowed on Sundays?
Keep the sabbath day holy one of the ten commandments, hence not spending money. Sundays are set apart for church and other activities that pertain to God. The way i look at it is if we went shopping on a Sunday we are making it so people have to work....
I am not sure what the official "church" policy is on this. I remember that in another thread, you explained in detail as to why you thought it was sat rather than sunday. And we all respect your beliefs of this, and as always we are all free to choose to worship as we will.As for the 10 commandments, Yes they are still binding. However, we believe (and I am pretty sure that we are not alone here) the they were part of the law of Moses. A prepatory, or lower, law. With Christ this law was fullfilled and a higher law was given. See Mat 5 starting about verse 18. So, not only are we commanded not to kill, but also now not to "be angry with our brother with out cause". I would think that this would apply to all Christians. Again; agree or not, I think that this thread was simply so that we could explain what we believe. I know that there are other threads here where we can debate points of doctrine (SP) where our beliefs differ.
