R150 in place of a W56

Is the R150 & POS chain drive case the same lenght as a W56 & gear drive case? Does the R150 w/ R151 bell housing bolt in the place of a W56 w/o and driveline or cross member mods? Any other fitment issues?

My team mate blew his second W56 up-have no time to find / build another. But do have 2 R150 trans/Xfercases sitting in the shop. Was gonna get a R151 bellhousing from Marlin. Want to swap one in place of the W56, but need to know if there any fitment issues. The truck see very little 4x4 useage, so the chain drive case is not an issue.

i think it'd be more work than it's worth.  to bolt to an R engine, you need an R151F bellhousing, and buy the adapter to bolt a gear driven t-case behind it.  remember, you'll need a 23 spline input on your t-case to use an R tranny

also, you get a higher 1st gear ratio with the R150F, 3.83, compared to the W56's 3.95 and the R151F's 4.31

I removed a W56 that was in a 85 truck with a 4.3 V6 and swapped in a complete R150F trans and chain t-case.
The cross member was 1/8" off  and the drive shafts bolted right up.
It will use all the same clutch pieces.

Go for it, I think it will bolt right in
I will get an exact measurement in the AM.

Do you sell R151F bellhousing?  I have an R150F 5 speed that I would like to put behind my 4 cyl in place of it's G52.

Cleaned, inspected, glass beaded, with a starter stud and locking nut sells for $150.00.
