Front Leaf Spring Hanger....
« on: Aug 30, 2004, 08:44:27 AM »
I read somewhere a few months ago about a extension or shackle that goes on the front hanger (one below the radiator) on the 79-85 Yotas, it gives like an inch or two of lift.... I was wondering if anyone had saw this or had any info on this.....  Thanks!

If you put a shackle up front on a Toyota, I think that would be a scary piece of machinery.  Having both ends of the spring attached by shackles.
in the projects nooga, anything goes

there are people running double shackles but I think they usually run a 3 or 4 link to keep the axle in place. I wonder if this guy is referring to something similar that the IFS guys have to do???

My brother is running dual shackle on both his front and rear springs. I have them on my rear springs, they dont open up all that often it takes a lot of drop to get them to move. Street driving with them is no big deal, out wheeling climbing hills can have issues though. I only have a couple trips with mine and I am still getting use to the set up.

I'd like to read that thread, a shackle up front really make more sense. Less axle wrap, less need for a long travel driveline, etc..

Only issue is ramming into a rock and bending a leaf spring.

I thought I saw it in Peterson's 4-Wheel mag... :headscratch:   I even went to the website, but I didn't save the link...  I was just trying to find some info on it.... It may have been a Tera-Flex shackle,  :dunno:    but I seem to think it was something new...  I just can't seem to locate it in my mags. If anyone has any links, post em'... I would greatly appreciate it!!
