If your TPS isn't set right, the ecu will think you're not on idle and move the timing around. Sounds like you may be a tooth or two off on your distributor
Like GrimReaper said, you may have detonation (caused by improper timing setting) that could also be screwing things up. Start over by setting the distributor on cyl one with the crank at 5*. Make sure the pickups are aligned in the distributor, then install the rotor. Set your timing to factory specs with the Te and E1 terminals in the diag port shorted.
