Gonna wait til the end of summer to start swappin. Leaning towards the GTE, I miss boost. But the N/A would be a little less money to swap, less things to worry about, but most important, not as cool

Either way, my radiator is gonna have to be pushed through the core support to clear this beast. But probably my favorite part is that this will drop into my engine bay with a w58 bellhousing, and 5m motor mounts, no spendy adapters like with the 4.3, and its all toyota.  But between meow and then Im gonna try and learn as much as I can on these engines. any pointers from 7m swappers will be appreciated :)

toyotanner

5m would be cheaper and you only loose a little horsepower

GrenadedToy

Its pretty much the same swap, just the 7m yields like 40 more hp and thats just the N/A motor. Turbo 7m is around 230hp-230ft/tq at 5-7 psi which will be more than enough. And they really arent that much cheaper. Ive found some crazy deals on running and driving third gen supras with 7m's, just cant get one cause I need to sell my motor first, but I really like being able to wheel my truck for once lol.

go gte for sure bro!  If you are already committed to a 7m swap, you might as well go turbo.  You wont regret it!  Its such a sick sound listening to that turbo spool up while pullin a long hill on the highway.  Plus the looks I get from people are great. The exhaust sounds so deep and throaty, yet it doesnt sound like a v8. Its mind bottling for people who hear my exhaust! lol

mind bottling?? yeah you know when your mind gets trapped... like its in a bottle haha

toyotanner

to be honest ryan i think if you were to tear it down again so soon it would just be a giant waste of the last year... i would wait on it cause hopefully you'll get a job soon and maybe you can get your whole swap ready to go in before you yank your motor and then it will be a little faster process.
but in the end its your decision

yeah thats probly the way to go!  wheel it and enjoy it for the rest of the summer/fall   and then tear it down and do the swap during the winter :yesnod:

previous owner said blown headgasket, but when I cleaned the car out, found papers for a diagnostic done on the motor and said possible internal engine failure with wrist pin, or crank bearings. so it needs a full rebuild. there was a fully rebuilt 7mgte with arp's and 0 miles for 700 but the guy sold it...maybe wait for another good deal and use this motor for parts. unless I can rebuild this cheaper.
