Topic: 1986 ex-cab 3.0 Tranny help...

My friend recently traded a broken down Nissan for a running 86 ex-cab toyota. (Sweet deal), the only problem is it has a automatic tranny and a 3.0 V6.
       
       The tranny is pretty much shot, since I don't know muck about the 3.0, I figured I'd ask what his options were for a tranny swap.  Will a manual tranny from a 22R toyota work, or should he try to find a manual tranny from a 3.0 Model. Or should he just find another automatic??
       I know if it was me I'd put a 22RE motor and tranny and be done with it.  Any Ideas??

well 1st of all, the 3.0 v6 was not available until 1988 so if it is a v6 then it was a custom installation.  To answer your question, if you want to convert to a 5 spd you will need a v6 tranny.  The 4 cyl one won't work.
