leaf Spring issues

i cant find anything good to flex on lately and the trucks not trail ready quite yet but you can get the picture they do allright

ok im not 100% on this but it seems that the people that are having problems with thier springs are not using quality springs.

I ran pro comps on my truck for about 6 months and after the 6 months the were trash. they would reverse arc under flex and were bent all the hell.

All springs will be damaged if over compressed, thus bump stops.  Even my Alcans are only covered under warranty up to -10 degrees, which isn't much.

do not bandaid the problem, fix it properly......


your springs, hangers, etc, are not setup properly.... tryign to bandaid the problem will result in catastrophic failure later......

yes thats tru but who is to say that its worth it to fabricate new mounts and hangers for a procomp lift or rough contry whitch may not be the same lenth as good springs i e marlin ect. that you will have to replace any way then you have to fabricate and spend more money.

im just giving them a cheap option and opinion.

and my procomps had the right shackle angle but as time went on and the bent more and more they got longer due to the arc compressing and thats when i started to have my problems

longer shackles arent band aids if they change the angle... the spring doesnt care how it get there just is happy when its there... shackles arent bad parts... there not tacky.. there not something hillbilly... they arent band aids if it changes the angle...

im reffering to the springs in the pictures on page one...

but if you add a stiff leaf doesnt it restrict it from droping down further? im going to move my hangers in the rear forword about two inches and put on longer hangers, i think that will solve my prob. bad idea?

moving the hanger forward will also move the axle forward,  where's your driveshaft in all this moving??

keep the axle where its supposed to be, 


i run springs from a late 80's ford f150,  for my axle to remain in its stock location i had to move my hangers 4 1/2 inches forward and the rear shackle mounts would have been moved back but i used the f150 Y shackle with my stock rear shackle creating a double shackle

yes  a thick leaf is bad,  add a long thin leaf that wil work with the springs already in the pack

i will be moving my REAR(on the back leafs) shackle mounts and putting on longer shackles, not my front ones, so my axle is not going anywhere.

Lol.   The highlift will probably be the least of his worries in a roll.  (Thats a clean looking truck!  )

Although, may not have to dis-mount the highlift to get the vehcile back on all fours!!!  hahaha.
