i was reading today on a site that said not to key up while there is no antenna pluged into the cb. i have done this in the past and i havnt tested it since because i havnt mounted a new antenna. so do you think i killed it? its a uniden pro 520xl.

If you weren't trying to carry a conversation while doing that I don't think it should be a problem. Just as long as it wasn't for any extended period of time. The damage that could occur isn't instantaneous if you had done this for a brief moment.

But the only way to be sure is to hook it all up correctly and check the match on your antenna with an SWR meter. If all looks good and the radio doesn't squeal or sound funny on the 'recieve' end of another radio then I would say you're still good.

Oh BTW,  :welcome: to  :turtle:.  Also be sure to properly intro yerself here...
