Im thinking of swaping a 5.0efi mustang engine into my toy. I would like to use the t5 trans or possably a turbo trans with the northwest offroad adaptor. Any pointers? Has anyone used a toy tranny linked to a v8 with good luck? can the turbo trans hold up to a stock v8 or should i look to the wc t5? I have marlen dual cases with 4.7 gears and 5.29s in the axles so i dont need a really low geared tranny but i do need overdrive. My goal is to build a truck that can drive to the trails and pull hills with 37s. Thanks for the help.... ???

Common sense just isn't that common anymore

the best way to go is to use a t18, t19, np435 or n4500(adaptable) behind the a 302.  the toyota turbo tranny should hold up, but it makes the T5 look like a piece of junk

Ferg

NWOR -NO!

NV4500 - Yes! 27% overdrive($)
Some idiots are too busy knowing it all, to ever learn anything...

click on the 302 swap link from that page - after seeing this post I just updated it ;)

I still like my NOWR motor mounts, MUCH better than the AA ones..

Do you use overdrive now? If not then you don't need it. A 4500 would be nice but I have a 435 and it is fine with 37's but then again I run 4.10's
