I broke a front main spring... luckily it was on the shackle side so it really didn't matter.

Steering box was gushing ATF out of a blown seal hole, had to replace it on the trail or I wouldn't have had any power steering. Luckily a friend had a spare box :)

You are correct.  I'm scared to be there when I finally run out of luck and something breaks.  After having two rigs and taking them on 4 or 5 trips to Moab (1,100 miles each way) and now the Rubicon (800 miles each way) without breaking anything that I had to fix on the trail is simply amazing to me.

On the Moab trip in April, that was the bdrunner shakedown I ended up replacing the oil pump gasket and installing a new twin stick, but I was able to drive out with both problems and neither was a result of the trail.

The only damage this trip was a small scratch/dent on the tailgate just above the bumper.  I would imagine that not breaking on the Rubicon is more difficult that in Moab since the trail is so rugged and is full of opportunity to beat up the underside of a rig.

bd I'm glad to hear this.  It makes me happy to hear that at least something I build doesn't break.  What boggles my mind is how I always break stuff no matter how easy I am on my stuff, I always seem to break something.  But on every vehicle I build for other people it all seems to stay together and not break.  I'd rather have it break on mine though than someone else's.

Luckily a friend had a spare box :)

Who brings a spare box with them.  I mean I'm glad someone had one for you but I can't say that its something I'd take along as a spare.

Because I broke a mounting ear off my steering box 2 years ago on the Rubicon. Whats the big deal? It weighs 20lbs and doesn't take up that much space.

I didn't break anything per se, but the trail did do in my rear unjoint in my driveline. Not bad enough that I couldn't get home, but its got some slop and Im gonna replace it tomorrow. Otherwise I made it through no problem but I didn't really beat my truck.

Edit: today when going over everything I did find I lost a lot of misc bolts :gap:

Its no big deal. I was just saying that I wouldn't take one along with me because I just haven't thought much about breaking my box on the trial.  But thats cool that you guys had one.  Nothing like using the parts you bring along as spares.  Sure beats not having what you need.

no mechanical probs, just the usual slow rockmassage/scrapage of fresh clean sheetmetal and tailight lenses...its nice to listen to the Ipod with the A/C running to and from the trail, and sometimes on it :moon:
