EFI power steering tensioner/ bracket on 22r?
« on: Sep 04, 2008, 08:23:25 PM »
I was able to trade the 35s that came on the superbeater '81 Toyota for a set of axles from an '85 4runner (auto trans).  So now I can replace my severely bent front housing and I get the 4.30s from the auto 4runner (no big deal)... but it gets better!  The entire power steering was attached to the front axle, box pump, reservoir and all!  No more sprained thumbs .

My question is this:  I have the tensioner pulley and bracket left over from my '94 22re.  Will they fit on the 22r or do I need the ones for that motor?

The pump looks exactly the same.  Thanks fellas...

I think they'll work, but you may as well just bolt them up and see

nope, they wont work unless your engine is an 85+ 22R truck

they look the same, but the mount holes are about 1/4" off, it's almost impossible to tell until you try it... i did with my 84 22r pump and an 87 efi bracket.... the pump doesnt bolt to the bracket.... you must use the brackets from the same generation as the pump....
