Rancho 4044 Question

Hey all, I was just wondering if 4044's can be used with stock front hangers on an 82 pickup.

The front eye of the 44044 is 3", the hanger is 2.75". I built a drop hanger on mine but I suppose you could spread the stock hanger out enough to get them in. Only thing is Toyota built their hangers with those big ass holes on one side.

i have heard you can shave the bushings down a little to squeeze them in the stock hangers.

i shaved the bushings down and i also got a piece of flat stock and drilled a hole in the middle and i got a washer that fits in the big ass hole and ran the bolt straight through.  they arnt 44044s but they are waggy springs so they are good enough.  hope this helps.

Thanks guys- yeah it helps. I'm just throwing around ideas for some new front springs without having to go with a new hanger setup.

early hangers SUCK - they will break if you use your rig. Save yourself the headache and buy some $20 jeep hangers made for the jeep springs..

Otherwise skip the 44044's and get the marlin springs..

Well I cant really say how great the early hangers are except that they have NOT broken and I most assuredly use and abuse my truck. Are you talking about stock hangers or early SAS hangers? Whatever front springs I go with I would really prefer to fab as little as possible, keep it simple and use what I have. I have front hangers already and if it aint broke....

look closer - I highly doubt you do not have cracks throughout your front mounts if they are stock, I doubt I have EVER seen one used and NOT cracked..

My stock hangers didn't break either.  I even ran it into an enbankment at 35mph and up onto the hill side.  Bent the U'bolts, broke a center pin, bent a pass side steering arm, bent my pass side leaf springs, and bent my axle housing just a little bit.  Thats was it.  Hangers were still perfect untill i cut them off for the new suspension.

yours isn't a 79-83 either..

they don't break they hairline crack all over so ya gotta look close

I hate to beat this into the ground, but sorry Brandon, my hangers are not cracked.    You are the first guy I've ever heard even say that. I'm thinking we should start a poll...

interesting, every single truck that I have seen on the trail pre 84 has had cracked hangers - you need to look closer or I am really surprised, or maybe you just need to actually use your rig
