Cutting for clearance

Question, will clearancing the rear of the pickup bed destroy the bed's structure? The horizontal red line is where I want to cut, the diagonal lines are the area that will disappear.

i bobbed my buddys truck and cut that out, its fine

No-idea, how easy is it to push out on the inside if the bed back by the door with the door down?

the bed supports a load to the floor, the floor is supported with crossbars above the shock mounts and through the body mounts to the frame... the floor is also pretty strong because of its ridges..... now if you plan on trying to push the sides out repeatedly then the sides would have an issue toward the back, but the side is cosmetic, and isn't load bearing, it would have an issue if it was still intact

it would still take quita a bit of force to try and spread the bed apart, and if your tailgate is up, its got all the rigidity it needs -- even with it down, unless you are trying to pry the bedsides apart, there wont be a problem, no more so than stock.... that area under the bed is cosmetic

I fill my bed once in a while with gravel, tanbark... and I don't want the sides of my bed deflecting. They're already pushed out a bit.

pull the sides back in... if you are worried about it dont do it.... but the bedsides still arent going to be more prone to bow out... they werent designed for extreme loads... period, modified or not.....

yeah, his bed is a little more flimsy in-and-out with the tail gate down.

I finished this. I never finish my topics. 

I picked up the bumper off CL from Redwood City, nice guy. Used 5/8inx2in grade 8 with square washers. Rear of the bed in now 17.5in tall with 29.5in of ground clearance.

Similair to mine, but I didn't try to make it look good, just strong.

I cut the stick spot welds for the entire lower portion.
