Clutch not disengaging, how to adjust.
« on: Aug 08, 2008, 01:26:42 PM »
At a stop, it is difficult to put it in gear, any gear 1st 2nd or reverse.  And while driving it is difficult to shift.

This is in my 2000 4runner.  New clutch from marlin and new hydraulics were installed in december.  I know for a fact that I forgot to grease up the throwout bearing when I installed the clutch.  So there is limited grease on the throwout and it does sqeak and has done so since the install.  But only recently has it become difficult to shift.

I also thought I may need to adjust the pedal.  But I backed it out all the way on the adjustment screw.  That helped for a little while but now the problem is back.

Any suggestions?

Thanks,

Dave

And BTW I just got back from wheelin and it seems worse since I got back.  And despite doing tough trails, I'm really good with driving a manual, I did not abuse the clutch by any means.  I did break the grease nipple off of my rear driveshaft but I don't think that's the problem.
