Question for dog owners.

One thing that I absolutely can not stand is the fact that my dog eat's his own crap. He know's right from wrong, I have tried everything under the sun to stop him from doing it yet in a split second of me not watching him outside he'll do his business and gobble it up.

I literally have to be outside hovering over him every second he's outside in order to keep him from doing it. He can go weeks and even has went a month without eating it and then out of the blue he goes back to his old tendancies.

How many of you have had to deal with this?  what did you do to correct the dogs behavior?

I love my dog but he makes me want to kick the crap out of him (literally) when he does this. My big thing with it is when he get's done chompin' down he comes inside...... starts licking the floor... comes up to us... lick's our leg or arm or whatever.. and before you know it he's got that stuff everywere.  So i'm at whit's end with this.... it needs to be corrected asap.

Any advice that can be given that I have not already tried I am more than willing to give it a shot.

I'd just like to be able to let my dog go play in the backyard like normal without having to worry about him bringing INSIDE stuff that should stay OUT.

Yea this is what i'm trying to get out of. Supervision is me basically sitting outside the entire time he's outside and coming inside when he comes inside.

Here ya go, I've heard this stuff works and have ordered it for our 6-month-old wolf hybrid.  We buy expensive dog food and he still eats turds.  Hope it works...

I have tried something similar, it was in a tablet form though. It said within 7 days he will not want to eat it anymore yet he still persisted so I doubled the dosage for another two weeks!   After it didn't solve the problem I took him off of it.

I can't recall what it was called but it worked on my aunt's dogs so she gave me some.


I will give this a try though, i'm willing to give anything a try.

We also buy our dog expensive dog food because we were told that this would fix the problem. I actually think it made it worse...

I was just searching for info on my daughter's Doberman...she is a wood eating freak, but that's not why we're here...so, anyway...I found this article on your problem. It sounds as if the roots of this may be perfectly natural. But, the behavior can be changed...I think the For-Bid is mentioned in here.

Shamb, I really hope it works too.  How old is your dog?  They say the younger, the better when looking for favorable results.

You know alot of the stuff mentioned in that article didn't pertain to us either. He get's alot of exercise and love so i'm assuming stress isn't part of it.

He's pretty happy go lucky type of dog. As other beagle owner's know.. they can be compulsive eaters.. and he is. When we put the food down during feeding time I have taught him to wait until I say it's okay but once I do he act's like he has never eaten in his entire life. He can kill a cup of dry within seconds.

Beagles also gain weight very easly so we only feed him one cup twice a day, is it starvation?  I don't think so because he weights 38lb's!  When the typical beagle should only weight around 27lbs.

He turned a year old in May so he's still a pup but full grown and well mannered around the house for his age. He likes to jump up to greet people but listen's when we tell him to get down. Other then that he's good... doesn't chew furniture or anything else.

He is however always on the hunt for something (or anything) to eat. Does not matter what... grass, sticks, snails, rocks, leafs.. .literally anything he finds he eats.

Your beagle sounds like a typical well-adjusted pet!  We taught our lil' monster to wait for food also, after he started attacking his bowl while we were still filling it.  Much better now!

Guess we'll find out how well that stuff works pretty soon...

I have three dogs, a rottweiler, a boxer and a chihuahua. The rottweiler eats the chihuahuas turds anytime she gets a chance, but she won´t eat her own bombs or the bricks that the boxer leaves on my lawn.

I bought the 12-pack, same as you.  Hope it works, he ate another pile tonight.     It also makes him wilder and more unruly...

The directions say 6 days will "usually curb coprophagia for months, often permanently".

After the 6 days if it doesn't fix it I may just buy two pack's and give it to him for 12 days.

I'd imagine it takes a bit for it to go through his digestive system and really start making it taste bad.

We'll see!

Just fed him supper and he wolfed it down, pardon the expression...  as advertised, there was apparently no bad taste to the product.

I read more on the packaging and you shouldn't need to buy more.  Half a packet, twice a day for 5-6 days (I'll do 6) -- so that uses 6 packets and you'll have 6 left in case the problem starts again.  The dose then will be 1/8 packet per day for two to three weeks.  "You should see a response after the first or second day".

You could follow him around...after he performs the power squat on your lawn, mix in some Brussels Sprouts with the offending feces...no one likes Brussels Sprouts.
