Can it be done ?

I know it will fit but will the carrier bearing and mount be able to put up with the stress ?

I am really only looking to make 3-4 runs on it until I can get time for duals. The Rubicon is one of those trips.

Ran mine like that for about two years without a problem. In fact I still run a 2-piece d-shaft with dual cases. I ran a 1-piece for a few years but I got tired of bending them so I went back to a 2-piece.

I've had both....they both have pros and cons...the single piece I used a lot thicker steel so its stronger but a lot more exposed to rocks.......Depending on your pinion angle either one or the other might work better too....

I'm not sure which one balances out better....

I was told by Driveline Service of Sacramento because of the length of the single they both balanced about the same, but you can get some whip in the single because of the length. This would happen at higher speeds.

I would agree with that....it seems my 2 piece shaft was always balanced better than the one piece....both were balanced by a professional shop
