ok... to look at this shattering aluminum rim thing... what brand, and what size? What process was used to manufacture said rim? I would use a forged aluminum wheel over some steel wheel any day

Concerning this thread: I found some tires with 2.25 inch backspacing the other day, they were black steel ones... if I remember correctly, they were some pro comp ones

Oh yes, I will have to find them again. I will try to get back to you sometime today. They were some black steel rims with fake beadlocks.

I found some that I like through Pro Comp that look just like the soft 8's and have 2.5" bs. Maybe i'll get those.
They are called Pro Comp series 97

6x5.5 2.5" BS
$62.00 per wheel

I am checking to see if 4WP has buy 3 get one free on this wheel.

My only hangup on these wheels is that they only are offered in 10" wide. I have 8" wide ones right now and really like the look and the added bead holding ability.
What do you guys think. Do you guys like your 10" wide wheels. What psi could I air down to with 10's as apposed to 8's.
I am running 35x12.50x15 BFG KM's

Thanks again and you all get an internet  :ladys-man: for being so awesome!

If you plan on running those 12.50's for a while, I'd go 8" wide for sure.  I had 12.50's on mine 10" wide 2.5" backspaced wheels and I was never fully comfortable airing them down below 11-12 psi.

There is a huge thread in the Toyota section on Pirate talking about ordering 2" backspaced wheels from Summit.  I'd find it for you but I'm at work and can't access Pirate from work.

Here's my 39.5" Iroks on 2.5" backspaced 15x10 wheels and 1.5" wheel spacers (4Runner on the right).  Next to me is my buddies 96 with a Waggy D44 and 15x10" 3.5" backspaced wheels.  He still has a couple inches of width over me on the Toyota axle.

84 4Runner

hey kdx how much for the wheels?

$93.47 each

look through the listings here for the rims I was talking about (they also have a 2 inch backspacing, but do not specify the lug pattern): http://www.4wheelcustoms.com/Products.asp?Cat=51

Monster Yota

I have aluminum 10inch rims and have had no problems,,,, I love the light weight, when running the SX's, all i want is more weight added to them   ::)   plus they have a huge bling bling factor!

Or you can get crazy like I am and run the 2"BS wheels with 1.5" spacers.

summit racing told me i was crazy when i ordered my 15x8's with 1.5" bs. i told them that if they wouldnt sell me wheels with less than 2.5" bs i would just run a spacer.... they called us wheel and they confirmed that 1.5" would be ok but not reccomended for street use.... (blah blah blah)  i went 8'' because im running 36x13.5 iroks with no bead locks and i run about 2 psi with no bead issues as of yet. i think i might end up going with stauns later on if it becomes an issue.
