I fit a 35 under mine with no real issues. I can see a 37 fitting there too just a little tighter fit is all.

It was mostly for the road drive to and from the trail in order to fit all the crap we took with us to fit in the bed. Then we readjusted the load before hitting the trail and put the spare in the bed.  Worked out pretty good actually.

I met Marlin in the late 80's. Have wheeled many a trail with him & he tailgunned for me on the Santiago Canyon trail a few times when my club Beach N Toys did the TLCA Thanksgiving run there. Always a pleasure to wheel with him. I have lots of pics of him & his truck from way back. Just need to dig em out. Here's a couple pics from the Suprise Canyon expedition, Nov.1995. Marlin's truck walked the falls!! Enjoy,Brad

Watch their hands. Hands kill. Smiles, frowns and other facial expressions don't (In God we trust. Everyone else keep your hands where I can see them.)

Maybe he does tow it now, but he always drove his truck to all the places he wheeled. Truck must have had alot of miles on it. He wheeled it all over the country all the time. An amazing man & truck. So glad to see it again. Brad

I would say he takes a dent once or twice every year, but they are never anything serious and are almost always a result of leaving the shop at 10 pm, driving 6 hours to the trail, starting in the dark and wheeling allllll day while tired and in a hurry to get to camp.

The most common location he takes a dent is going to be above the rear tire towards the top of the bed just below the bed rail.

The second most common location he takes a dent is going to be on the side of the bed right at the end of the bed just before the brake lenses, yet surprisingly he almost never damages the lenses themselves.

The truck has been laid on it's side ONLY ONCE and it was while a customer was driving :driving: :yikes: :_oops: I think he had to replace the drivers door and mirror but the cab was ok  That was a long time ago, back in the 90s.

When Marlin dents his truck, it's a, "Whoops, I saw that coming. oh well" it's never like, "holy crap! what just happened! oh crap I did that??" He is always relaxed and calm when he dents

does marlin still run a 44 hybrid, or is he back to all-yota parts?

It was a Dana 60 with Toyota housing, 3rd member, gears, toyota spindle, disk rotors, brakes, inner and outer hubs, all Toyota except for the Dana 60 axles and a custom knuckle. But since the machinist who worked with Marlin on the project went bankrupt and closed doors on us many years back, we only sold a small number of the front ends and hence it was pointless having it on Marlin's truck.

I think two years ago Rocky built a complete Toyota front end with our UM06 Marfields which have been going strong ever since
