Yukon has new warranty, no tires over 34"
« on: Jun 03, 2008, 02:35:39 PM »
Long story short.  I blew up a front set of 5.29's.  I bit the bullet and just bought another set.  A few months later I blew up both the front and rear on the same trail!  This time I wanted to warranty them out so I shipped them back to All-Pro and they forwarded the gears to yukon.  I called All-Pro and they said Yukon has changed thier warranty to a max tire size of 34" tires so your gears were denied.  My first question was "How do you know what size tires I'm running?"  Then I called yukon...I couldn't get in touch with anybody worth a damn in the warranty department and the kid I was talking to on the phone had no idea what I was talking about.  So now I'm talking with All-Pro again and apparently they're getting ready to stop selling Yukon junk.  They explained to me that even if they did change the warranty it can not effect any gear sets sold before the warranty took effect.  So everyone just beware.  I won't buy anything with yukons name on it.  I'm building my front 60 and rear 14 bolt and will use superior for all my R&P's and axle shafts.

This warranty is void if installation of Yukon product(s) occurs on vehicles with tires that exceed Yukon Maximum Recommended Tire Size.

Upon notification of a warranty claim, Yukon shall investigate the claim of defect, and, in the event of a verified defect, shall, at their sole choice, either repair the defective product, replace it, or refund the purchase price.

This warranty does not cover, and Yukon shall not be liable for, incidental or consequential damages, including loss of time, road service charges, labor charges, inconvenience, loss of vehicle use, loss of revenues, or loss or damage to personal property (including loss or damage to vehicle parts due to the failure of the Yukon product). In addition, this warranty does not cover, and Yukon shall not be liable for, any undertaking, representation, or agreements made by dealers or other third parties selling Yukon Gear & Axle products, except where such agreements are within the provisions of this Warranty statement. Also, this warranty does not cover damage to the axle caused by or facilitated by failure of a non-Yukon component.

Kinda funny that the warranty paperwork that comes with the gears in the boxes doesn't state any of that!

Then you need to fax a copy of that to them and ask them to honor the warranty that was in place at the time of purchase!  You have a leg to stand on, they don't.

damn! I didn't know they had a limit on tire size either.  I'll have to take that into consideration for my next gear swap.

I sheared the ring gear teeth off both the front and rear r&p yukon set I had (at different times) . When I posted about it people questioned the setup? The Yukons held well for a while with the 36 irocs and my me driving. I rember seeing quite a few post saying "buy yukons", I wonder if opinions will change?

Motive or Precision...

Personally thats what I use and most of my buddies too.... (precision)

Though when I spoke with a representative of Precision Gear he would never actually confirm with me that there are Precision Gears in the boxes they send out....kinda strange. He basically said that it is "standard practice" in the gear industry to swap gear brands/boxes and sell them under another name...

Makes you kind of question Yukon's Sponsorship of Peterson's Ultimate Adventure and Four Wheeler's Top Truck Challenge.  I can't recall seeing any tires smaller than about a 38" on any of the rigs yet they make you stick those gigantic Yukon Gear stickers all over them.

Besides, They are made in India anyway.
