How hard is it to install a Detroit TruTrac into a 81 toyota rear diff?

Same as any other full carrier swap, if you have the knowledge, FSM, and a few special tools it is no problem.

Not that bad of a job.  If you want to do a R&P swap this would be the time to do it.  :twocents:

I did a Truetrac in my Tacoma, and it was pretty easy. Didn't even re-set the pinion depth. Just set the backlash and you'll be golden.
