5* timing @ no more than 950 rpm with vacuum lines plugged..... also says cold idle should be 2600 rpm
8* is stock, so 11* is better right?also where is the best source for tuning the stock carb for the best economy and performance...
Sounds right to me (unless it starts to ping)Check out LC Engineering for tech articles on engines........http://www.lcengineering.com/
Marlin would be the best person to ask THAT
does he have an email?
so whats the stock setting for a 22R?
you can PM him just like everyone else, he is a member on the board.....
that is what my sticker under the hood says
cold idle is 2600 rpm
Remember that when you adjust the cold/fast idle speed, the engine is warmed up.........When cold it won't be that high.
thanks Jim, that helps alot
its an interference motor.
i was under the impression the 22r is an interference motor.
It is, but that has nothing to do with ignition timing.........
Correct, the interference part comes into play when you screw up on your mechanical timing AKA the timing chain. If you screw that up, you screw up your engine. Ignition timing has nothing to do with it, as stated above. Ignition timing is for IGNITION or in other words, when the spark is delivered to the cylinder.
yes!see you time the crank and cam shaft at 0* and then you retard it 3-8* BTDC with the distributer.
BTDC is BEFORE Top Dead Center which is ADVANCEDnot retarded
well stock is 5* BTDC which is advanded, so advance it 3* more for a total of 8* BTDC. that should be perfect.if it pings.... back it off a bit.
