ya, i was a fabricator for featherlite trailers, u haul tralers, and hassell fab for many years while working as a mechanic (i have a habit of keeping two jobs)

the biggest reason i dont want to use this welder for structural(im using it to tack stuff together now)
is when i did try to weld my coil mount togethr (1/4 plate)  i burned as hot as the welder could and they could be brocken apart with a small ball peen hammer, easily. so ill just wait. if i burn in a low penetration weld, and try to cover it with a high pen weld later, the high pen weld will still have an internal void where the 110 weld is/was, making it nearly as weak

heres the last thing i made as a pro welder :D

Dan    Im sorry, but I have say that you were most likely not a very good welder back in high school, or your design was poor. I only say this because 80% of my truck has been built on 110V MIG welder. Most of the steel on a Toy like yours and mine are no thicker than 1/8" which is what those welders are rated for. If you've been welding for 8 years, Im certain that you would have welds good enough to work they way you need them to.
Im not baggin on you,  Im just saying your are a better welder now than you were then, and the machines of today are better than they used tobe. In fact my entire front 3 link is done with a 110V.

Minit Truck frames and axles are all 1/8" thick.

well, i agree, however, i tried to weld all my balistic brackets together (1/4 plate)-and at the hottest setting, i could break the weld by hand-and soe with a small hammer- now i am a good welder-good enough to know that this is not normal or good-could be a faulty or poorly maintaned welder(its a freinds). but i do have 220v at the house so why not?

and in high school, it was the same thing, as hot as it would go, 1/4 plate welded to 1/8 toyota frame, weld broke off, not the frame, the weld literally came off due to poor penetration.

anywho- if i can get a 110v that im comfortable with, ill use it, but if not, its 22ov. either way everything is on hold again cause were having a baby on tuesday

are you using gas or flux-core wire, and is the polarity set correctly?

How are those aerostars compared to the XJ's I got from you?  I got a LOT of lift from those XJ's, I might need a shorter/softer spring back there.
IFS is best kept at ambient temperature in a pile of scrap in the backyard.  When kept under a functioning vehicle, it tends to greatly diminish said vehicle's offroad ability.     -reklund5
