Wow...congratulations! I never had a son, but I can't imagine anything stronger than a father's love for his little girl...nor anything more important to her. The impact of having an involved daddy on a daughter's life is immeasurable.

I miss the tea parties, dancing with her and bed time stories.

Yea no kidding, I can hardly wait!  Last night was much better than the first. She actually slept!  which gave my and my wife a much needed break of sleep.

It gave me the largest smile to think of all the things we're going to be able to expose her too such as Disney Land, fishing, camping, wheeling, Fort Bragg.. just so many things the list is endless!

I'm really curious to see if she picks up on my musical side. She was fussin' alot around 8:00 last night but as soon as I started playing the accoustic she soon quieted and just watched me.. it was great.

I will keep the thread updated with pictures and maybe some video soon.

Life with the baby is going great, tiresome at times but that's to be expected!

we're really working on getting into a feeding/sleeping schedule for night time.

one of my co workers is going to be gone on national guard leave for over a month so i'll be picking up his On-Call.. which means absolutely no sleep or BEER for me for all of Feb!    :ack:

I posted more pic's at

Thought i'd update.

Things have been crazy lately. No one really knows how much hard work it takes taking care of a child until you have one!  But it is totally worth it.

My Daughter is already 4 months old!!!   I'll have to post up some new pictures.

On the down side of things as some of you know my Grandfather was having heart problems and went through open heart surgery.

Catching everyone up to speed, the surgery went "well"   but about 2 weeks later we found out that his kidneys were basically doing nothing anymore so he's had to start Dialysis.
Finally got to the point where he had a machine at home so he could do it at night and it wouldn't be so hard on him...... well.... while this was beginning to take place we found out my Grandmother has cancer in her lymphnoids (sp?)  but the good news was that with chemo it would all go away.
Well my Grandfather had alot on his plate along with my Grandmother now and he got to the point where Dialysis was making him feel bloated... went to the doc.... doc gave him some bs meds which didn't help... got to the point where he had blisters on his feet and fluid was literally leaking out.. so they had to rush him back to the hospital..

This brings us to about 1 week ago. I get word last Thursday that while in the hospital he went into cardiac arrest twice... it took 8 doctors to bring him back. So I cut away from work to see how he was doing... he was so medicated he couldnt keep his eyes open for more than 5 seconds although he hadn't had any medication for over 3 days.
Fast forward to day before yesterday and I spoke with my mom who told me that he ate alot of his food that day and he was much more awake than he had been in the past few days and we were gaining much more hope....

Until I get the call today that they had to rush him into ICU because his lung had filled up with some type of fluid and it was becoming very hard for him to breath. He went in for surgery today to get the fluid out of his lung and sent to a lap for testing... now they're telling us he has some type of heart disease along with everything else...

And I can't help but feel like my Pop's is slowly slipping away... it's by far the hardest thing I have ever had to deal with in my entire life. It's extremely hard to function at work or even at home at times.

Tomorrow I plan on taking off from work early so I can go up and speak with him while I can and let him know alot of things that i've really wanted to tell him for so long because I know if I don't now I might not get the chance and i'd kick my self in the butt for the rest of my life if I didn't.

Keep him in your prayers please!

You guys know that I appriciate it very VERY much.

Wow man a lot has been going on in your life recently.  I'm really sorry to hear about your grandparents.  Having lost all of my grandparents in less than 2 years it is a very hard process to go through.  No one really knows how your feeling and all I can say is your family is in our prayers.

On the happy note I can't believe your daughter is already 4 months old.  I can't wait to be a dad someday and hang out with my kids.  Every time we have friends over that have kids or our nephew, I love playing with them.  Make sure and enjoy this innocent stage before you know it she will be in high school and the boys will start calling asking if she is there.  Also make sure and have your shotgun ready for that first date.  We all know how a lot of guys out there are and there's nothing like scaring the crap out of some poor high school kid who is probably scared to death to come to the door for the first time anyway.

Sorry to hear about your grandparents.  Spend as much time with him.  Even if it means using up your vacation.  When my grandfather (I only had one set of grandparents, the other set didn't give a :pokinit: about us)  got sick with cancer, I was away at college, and I should have bagged college and came home.  But my family said there would be plenty of time for me to see him, and my studies was more important.  But I got two weekends to be around him.  He was my best friend.  I still think about him today, and it brings tears to my eyes everytime.  So, spend as much time as you can.  Your wife will understand.  I'm here for ya, if you need.  I know it will be tough on you and you family.  And be there for your grandma too.  She will need all the support she can get.

My truck is named Kilchis because of all the times I spendt with my grandpa, up the Kilchis River.   I still go up the river to just think about my grandpa and my dad.
Miss ya Dean (4THEWKN) & Kyle (KYOTA)!!

Sorry to hear about your grandpa. I just lost my grandfather in Jan. to cancer. It is very hard! but I was lucky to spend alot of time with him during the last few months and it seemed to help with the whole process. Glad to hear the baby is doing good tho...

I was going to take a half day today to go see him so I could speak with him but my mom went up there about 30 minutes before I was leaving work and I could tell she was holding the tears back.

She said he's completely saudaded and didn't know that anyone was there.  I guess he was on a resporator that's keeping him breathing along with tubes going into his throat and they had to shave his beard completely off.

He's got a big ol' beard, hates shaving it off.. last time he shaved it completely off was back in the early 70's.

I'm hoping I can get up there tomorrow.. I'm really hoping he'll be enough awake so that he can hear what I need to tell him.

thanks for all the kind words guy.

Wow Shamb I'm sorry to hear about your Grandpa.  I understand what you're going through, and I know there is nothing that can be said to ease the pain.  I can promise you though that with time, it won't hurt as bad.  There is nothing like watching a loved one suffer.

So good news today, Grandpa's doing much better. He's actually talking and asking how everyone's doing. I'm gonna go up to the hospital here in a few hours.

I also updated my photobucket account with some new pictures of the baby.

This one cracks me up
