R Series Tranny Question
« on: May 29, 2008, 01:56:36 PM »
i have a r151 tranny and i am wanting to run an atlas 4sp behind it. AA only has an adapter for a r150 to an atlas. Can the tail housing off a r150 be used on the r151?

is your r151 2wd or 4? the r150 is 2wd. the r150f is 4wd.   if you use the r150 2wd tranny tail section you'll have to use the longer 2wd output shaft also. I'm pretty sure it could be done but it would be a lot of work because you'll have to remove gears to match things up to the r151 ratio's.

both trannies are 4wd, dont want to change internals just transmission case for the rear half of the tranny so I have the chain case bolt pattern instead of the gear drive

yeah i think you can do it. with a r151f and a r150f. might have to change a few shifting parts but should work fine.

I hate to revive a dead post, but it should be noted that the ax15 tail housing might be an option to
Not require an adapter. Could be a much cheaper option.
Hopefully this will help anyone who stumbles here using google
Sand, what fun, drop pressure to 12psi, stock tires are still digging, can't afford to get stuck, 8psi, still not working. Find a place to GET OUT, air up, un-lock hubs,  WAIT whats this, hubs are UN-LOCKED already. 2wd, 8psi, stock tires, Oregon sand dunes.
