I pulled the transmission out today so I could replace it with a built th350.  Everything came out good till I pulled the adaptor off the transmission.  The item in question is the adaptor to go from a chevy automatic to a toyota transfer case.  it has a support bearing on the shaft, and it looks like there are some ball bearings missing.  Also found some kind of seal laying inside the tailhousing of the trans and a little bit of shrapnel.  I took a few pics.

here's a shot of the bearing.  Isn't there supposed to be a cage that keeps those ball bearings seperated?

Here's a pic of the pieces that I found in the tail housing.  Guess the flat  rubber piece just left of my finger is a seal that goes on the bearing in question.  The pieces of shrapnel is possibly a cage for the ballbearings?

Has anyone seen one of these fail?  i wonder if this bearing is available locally?  What caused this?  This setup only has about a hundred miles on it.  This sucks cause I need to have this up and running next week for an out of town trip.  HELP!!!!!!!!

Call advance Adapters, they have all of this stuff in stock. If you need bearnings and seals, now, go to the local bearning supply store with the failed parts, they will have what you need. If you want to wheel, just do it.

From my experience they have really good customer service too, and they may be able to give you clues to look for as to why its missing...
Life is too short!!!   Do something with it!!!
