I think locktite would be a bad idea on a exhaust system exhaust bolts and studs already have trouble with seizing and breaking. are you using an aftermarket gasket or factory. and are they studs or bolts if their studs you could use machine lock nuts or double nut them I wouldnt use nylocks the nylon mite melt

I do not know if the 22r is the same as the 3.0 but the head pipe on my 3.0 kept coming loose until I put the clamp and bracket back on down by the bellhousing.

How thick is the header flange where it bolts to the head? I know if the flange is not thick enough, it can warp and cause the nuts to come loose all the time. My LCE header has a 1/2 inch flange, and it has never loosened bolts. But my friends 350 has some headers with I think is a 3/8 flange, and it comes loose all the time. Not the best example, I know, but it does show that there is a difference.

Also, are the nuts loosening, or are the threads IN the head stripping out? I have seen instances of that, too. Not quite stripped, but with vibration/heat, jumping threads.

They are studs coming out of the head. Im using an after market gasket, the one that came with it was a joke. The flange is pretty thin maybe 3/8" I talked to a buddy of mine and he said his thorley did the same thing. I'll try some lockwashers and see if that helps.
Thanks

Head maybe stripped........

I ended up installing threaded inserts on all my exhaust studs.

i dont know if this had been covered-but toyota used brass or brass covered nuts on manifolds so that expansion and contraction could be kept to a min.

use factory hardware with locknuts and it should be fine, i did on my first 22r and went 5 years without a bolt coming loose, and on my 2nd now ive gone about 4 years
