Front spring hanger where to mount?
« on: Apr 24, 2008, 06:10:15 AM »
I know most people mount them direct in place of the stock hangers. But i have heard of people moving them to the front of the Frame support and getting the axel 1" forward. What do you guys think, im going to do one real soon and what to know witch to do? :beerchug:

You should tack it where you think you want it then set the weight of the truck on it and check your shackle angle. 90* or verticle is bad, but it shouldnt be laid back enough to allow the shackle to lock flat, or contact the frame. I have been told that 50* is a good angle to try for  a good ride, and suspension movement. Your desired shackle angle will varry depending on what springs and you choose, and the length of your shackle. The shackle angle should be more important than the placement of the spring hanger.
Hug your kids, pray for a soldier, and don't sweat the small stuff.

Remember your springs will settle some decreasing the angle....make sure you account for that

More than likely your spring center pin will move tha axle forward anyways...what springs are you running?

This is what you are shooting for

I would say you want more angle than that.

You also need to take into account the spring rates of your springs and how much they will settle with the engine type you have and additional weight (i.e. winch, bumper, exo, etc...)  Sounds complicated but its really not
