I personly like webers, your carb. might well be rebuildable, wont start most likely, bad accelerator pump, wont idle because of clogged idle circuit, did that carb sit around for a long time, also check your carb solenoids, and like the other guy said ,generally check for vacuum leaks

dude,  with the 20R/22R  hybrid that you have you need  to be running either a 22R carb or a 32/36 weber,   the stock 20R  carb is WAY too small

do you have a fuel pump on the side of the head ??  if  not  its electric in the tank,  and  is obviously not working

pull the fuel line off turn the key  to  on,  see if  any noise in the gas tank

are you still running the  stock 20R  carb??  if so  your fuel cut solenoid  is not getting 12 volts

you can run a jumper  wire  to it  and  try  to start it  to find out

you should think about a bigger carb,  like the stock 22R carb =320cfm  the stock 20R carb is only 190cfm

Are you getting power to your fuel cutoff solenoid on the carb?

Stock 22 carbs work fine when set up properly...
'82 pickup, +3, locked, doubled
'82 pickup, IFS long travel, V8
'85 4runner, V8 rock crawler
'88 X-cab, V6
