Name that EFI part and what it dose
« on: Apr 13, 2008, 09:13:01 AM »
OK you guys are gonna think im crazy  :screwy:

I can't find this little bugger in any manual paper or online  well It shows up in the manual  but no reference to it or how 2 adjust it.

one big hose goes 2 the throttle body.  one hose goes 2 the distributer   and theres others.

I never had 2 mess with one (till now)  so i never put any thot in to it   i feel  :hammerhead: asking.

Does your truck have power steering? I THINK that my truck with PS has those hoses, I think they are blocked for manual steering.

It  is for the power steering. Basiclly it raises the idle to help turn the tires while the truck is not moving.  Atleast thats what I've been told.
I don't need a winch, I wheel a TOYOTA!!!!!!!

Yup it is connected to the p/s pump to raise the idle when you are turning so the engine doesn't bog down under the increased load of actually turning the tires while parked.

Basically it creates an adjustable and controlled vacuum leak.  You turn the knob to adjust how big the leak is...  ;)

That is the AC idle up solenoid, it increases your idle speed when the ac compressor is engaged. Turn on your AC and turn the large hex  till you achieve the desired idle.

Ive seen rigs with power steering that don't have the vacuum booster on them too.  That doesn't mean that none of them did though. ;)

AND?  Like I said, just because YOU haven't seen it doesn't mean it doesn't exist... My 94 engine has that and it has ac too but thats not what kicks up the idle... On 3rd gens there is a box inside the dash with a knob that you turn to change the idle when teh a/c is turned on.  Ever see a toyota pickup automatic with a column shift?
