No pics but Mikuni makes some kickbutt carbs! I had one on my 75 Yamaha and it ran like a top. I'm sure you could also find a holley or another model aisin that would work. I think LC Engineering has a large selection of Carbs for 22rs, you could at least get an idea of whats out there.

what is wrong with your weber that you want to change it? some people would trade their first born for a weber

Webers are ok but they will not out last a Stock Aisin Carb. , just my opinion , and I know others will swear up and down that Webers are all that but in my opinion you can not beat the stock Aisin . They may not out perform but they will out last if well maintained !!!!!!

You can get an adapter to run a holley 500cfm 2 bbl, but I agree that you're better off sticking with the stock 22r carb.  I personally run a weber 32/36 and do not particularly care for it, especially if you sneeze or lean too close to the door.

While others like a friend swear at them and take them off a throw them in a field behind their house never to be seen or heard from since. :maddest:

I'm running a weber 32/36 it runs Strong and even gets better mileage than the stock 20r carb. i wouldn't use another after market carb. if i change it I'll go stock 22r carb, efi or try something really strange like a 2.8 GM fi or vw k-jetronic.

With my 32/36 set up to pass smog I usually got 17mpg, but it ran like poo and coughed and stumbled on the bottom.  When I jetted it to run ok I started getting 15mpg, and when I jetted it to run well it dropped to 13.  Seriously, it stumbles if you even look at an incline, or think of one for that matter.  Tunability and adjustability are there, but I've never had to worry about tuning or adjusting a stock 22r carb.

I never ran with a 20r carb since it came with the weber, so I can't say how it is versus the stock carb.

Interesting thread. I was wanting to rebuild the carb on my 83 pu. Called a local shop to rebuild the stock carb and they want at least $275 to do it if the choke is working, more if not.
Was thinking of a Weber 35/35, new for about $250, but after reading this thread I don't know if that is the way to go. Suggestions?

:slap:  now how do you know??   you had your weber on your truck for maybe a week :shake:  and  you never did  have it jetted to match your 20R

500cfm  on a 22R  :yikes:  i hope its got a stage 5 head and cam on it  :yikes:

ive had my weber for about 5 years i guess,  had  some issues  when i bored the engine to .060  but after installing some bigger fuel jets  it  runs perfectly

in fact  Insane06  commented on how smoothly  it  idled up  after warming up  from a cold start

carbs must be tuned,  i dont know how to tune a aisin carb  but i DO  know how to tune a weber

yeah i think tuning is where the weber shines. any time you do major changes to an engine cam, bore, exhaust and even the intake, the carburetor is going to need to be tuned to get the best performance. trying to get it all out of a stock aisin would probably be a nightmare. and the high performance aisin's are big dollar.

My truck when I bought it came with a holley 2bl off of an old Ford, and somehow it workd great. As for the Webers, I have heard some people swear by them and others swear at them.

With some slight modifications to the intake I have been running a Rochester 2bbl without problems. I did have to weld up and redrill 2 of the mounting holes and bore the intake out for the larger butterflys. This was definately not a bolt on mod but it has worked very well and rebuild kits for it are cheap.
