The big question is will a Toyota gear driven Xfer case work of this.
Apllicatoin is an 84 toyota 4x4, 22r, W56, 4.88, V6 diff w/spool that is used in desert racing. The front drive line is not conected, so it is run in 2wd. The 4.88's ares not low enough, our desired final drive ratio is about 6.0  While 5.71 is close, they are too weak.
Optoin 1 is to build a ford 9" w/ 6.xx gears. But i do not care for fords - they always seem to break.
Option 2 is to swap back to 4.11 or even 3.90's and run the truck in 2lo in either 4th  or 5th gear.
But will a Toyota gear driven case survive this abuse?

the ford 9" shouldn't break if you use the right parts.
87 runner, 4" trailmaster lift, 33" TSL/SX, 5.29's V6 e-locker, 22re that cost too much

9 inch    one of the easeyest rearends to narrow from what ive hered

Hyena

Put 35 spline shafts in it and beat it to :pokinit:, it will not break.

I think the tcase would get too hot at those speeds.  Maybe if you could add a remote cooler and a small electric pump to circulate the oil??

Adding a cooler is not big deal.
Do not want to do the 9" thing - to go big bearing, 35 spline, 6 lug is a PITA and big$
I have LOTS of spare Toyota axles, and have yet to snap one. Starting to look like 4.88 is it.
