I also stop and was thinking why did the military put IFS in the highly capable HUMVEE granted the HUMVEE has a fully independent suspension system to die for. The Newer Toys do not come with torsion bars anymore so cranking up the torsion bars is out. Only thing I do not like about my IFS is when going around a corner at a decent rate of speed and you hit a pothole it feels like you are on a boat. I am seeing more and more IFS Toys going place were solid front vehicles are going.

The Hummer is not designed for rockcrawling, it's designed to get troops/equipment from point A to point B as fast as possible.  Plus, the independant suspension on the hummer isn't the normal suspension that's on toyotas...it's got portal axles.  The mercedes G-wagon with solid axles and lockers all around will most likely whip the hummer on the trails.

Tacoma's don't have tbars, but you can get spacers which do the same thing as cranking the tbars.  Your best bet is to get OME coils and shocks though.  They'll take care of the boat feeling.  If you want to spend some money and run even faster on the dirt roads, then get sway-a-way or fabtech coilovers.  The tacoma has much better front end articulation than the older tbar trucks.  Do a google search for Steve Schaefer and sonoran steel.  He's got a really good setup for max articulation on a relatively stock 4runner.  He's got 35s and runs trails in Az, Ut and at the hammers.

If we cannot embrace the 4wheel users as a whole. We are not fighting for access. I cannot be that shortsighted

Well since it would proly be my DD for a couple more years how about a Heavy Duty IFS kit like the one the dessert runners use? I know downey makes a kit and theres a thread about it but just wanted to get more ppl to konw

Like I said and I think most here will agree, IFS lifts are worthless.  You'll spend almost as much money on the ifs lift as doing a sas...might as well save up a little more and get the solid axle.  You might be able to pick up a used lift from pirate for cheap though.  Lockers will get you further along the trail than any lift or bigger tires.  My suggestion is that you lock your truck and get some armor.
