You can get a aftermarket one for less than $100. I have been wrenching for 20 years & have never, ever, rebuilt one. I'm not saying that it isn't possible but to me it would quicker to swap it out rather than tear it apart. But if you have the time to figure it out make sure you take plenty of pic's & post them up in a how to thread so the rest of us can learn too.
i heard the fluid is replaceable and that doing it is far superior to the aftermarket units
that's what I'm hoping for.. I'll post up if I get anymore info..
this was covered many moons ago on this board. the fluid was(at that point) still available from Toyota. Or you can run the RC shock oil as quoted from Pirate.
Are you saying the oil is no longer available from the dealer??
I don't know..I've never waste time trying to rebuild one. It might still be available.
