Anyone got any info on these two welders, the Maxstar 150 STL and the Syncrowave 180 SD.  I got the spec sheet from miller yesterday, but I had a few questions about the applications.  The 150 is 110V and the 180 is 220V.  Do you think the 150 would be strong enough to weld a cage, some work to the frame, and welding the axles.(new spring perches)  I trying to stay away from the 220V but it's probably what I should get, it's also got a AC range for welding aluminum.  Any feedback would be helpful.

always remember to buy more welder than you need cause youll always need more at one point in time.i cant tell you witch one is best to suit your needs but i have the 250x and like it id love it if it wasnt the water cooled torch .with me keeping the lines hole free and water in them has been a real pain.but remember with welding aluminum you need 100% pur tungstun and 100% argon gas and be sure that the welder has a high frequncy if not youll have to buy the high frequincy box sepreat that means money.just because it says ac dosent neceseraly mean it can weld aluminum

Thanks hairy
I thought that I should go big, but now you talked some sense it me.  The only bad part is that the 220V is for my dryer,  so I would have to unplug the dryer everytime I need to weld.  I wonder how many amp breaker my dryer is?  I had better go check that out before I get to anxious.

KYOTA

I run my 220 volt Millermatic 210 off my dryer plug no prob. It does suck to unplug every time but its what I got right now. Make sure your dryer breaker is at least 30 amps.

Thanks Kyota
Just checked mine and it's 30.  I think I'm gonna buy the 220V maybe next payday.  Hopefully I'll have the flatbed done my the end of summer.

That's awesome dude.  Hey Kyota I didn't know you had the Millermatic 210.  That's what my dad has.  But he's an electrician so he just wired the shop to be able to use it.  And he's gonna wire up the garage to be able to use it in there too!

Looks like you got it figured out on wich one you want but the smaller one well do all you listed too. But bigger is better

I have a question stehly, how come you are looking for a tig welder.  Why not go for a mig welder.  I have the Millermatic 210, and I got the Spool gun so i can weld aluminum.  And if i remember correctly this welder will weld up to 3/8" steel.  That's some HD steel.   :twocents:

Those aluminum guns are nice  and I think you can weld more than 3/8 in one pass with that 210
