Topic: xtra cab body on reg. cab frame?

Im going to put a extra cab body on my reg. cab.  '91 pickup.
I know it wont just bolt on or anything, but I'm looking for some idea of what issues may come up during the swap. anyone done this or know something about it?

well all your body mounts past the wall will be off. make new ones.
and im guessing your gas tank could hit the cab...

its cake... yes you have to move the tank... need to add far rear body mounts... just cut off the old ones. have to run a huge body lift or slice the back of your frame to fit over your frame...depending on tire size cut the back of the cab corner so it doesnt rub.. ask me any questions you need... did the swap when i was in high school and think i still remember most of it lol...

yea well ive got some ideas.... im going to move the axle back 6'' go to dual cases.... 2'' body lift move gas tank....and well probley another couple of things i cant think of... well any thing else?

yea... i put the tank up too high first time around and it liked to siphon through the opposite direction when it was hot lol make sure the cab has the same wiring cause putting 4cyl harness into a v6 cab doesnt work too hot without a ton or troubleshooting to find odd problems... its honestly a super easy swap....

ok well ....problem!!!! its a 4cyl 5speed reg cab now .... and im going to be swapping a v6 automatic x cab... is this bad? what all will have to be done wireing wise? thanks alot everyone!!!!!

take EVERYTHING from your regular cab and replace EVERYTHING in the 3.0 cab... took the in dash harness and engine harness from the 22re motor and took out the 3.0 harness but left the modules and whatnot and ended up with a complete mess of finding problems.... swap IT ALL... what year is the extended cab by the way.. and do you plan in registering it...

well sounds like fun... its a 91 also... i was just going to swap over all the vin #s and ...so basicaly im going to have to tear the dash completly out?... well i was already planing on that anyway so i think its going to be a real time consuming swap... but it will be well worth it i think...

i personally didnt like mine when i made it.. just didnt like the weight proportions.. i hated the fact the body lift made it that much more top heavy...

ok well i will just get the ex cab ripped apart and everything for when im ready to do it...so u didnt like your truck when you swapped? why not? if it was just the body lift then why didnt you section the cab and drop it down to stock body height? ok thanks alot for all the info...

so what exactly did you do with the gas tank? any pics? thats my biggest problem as of right now...
