So i just put a rebuilt engine n my truck  and i got her runnin one day and two days later she wont start up.  timing and vaccuum is all hooked up right but she just wont start.  so i spray carb cleaner down th e intake and she fires right up.  so i narrowed it down to fuel not gettin to  the engine.  so i replaced teh fuel pump and she still wont start any suggestions?  1982 toyota 4x4 22r with california emmissions type.  hope that helps u...  :help:  :help:  :beerchug:

Full hydro, 186:1 with an auto and 44's what could go wrong??

make sure the lines are hooked up correct.
not the return line hooked up as the line to fuel pump.
also chech all the rubber lines by the tank to make sure they are not cracked.
if you need any help let me know.
i can stop by after work and give you a hand.

also make sure you have the plastic spacer that goes between the head anf fuel pump.
my buddy forgot it once and the fuel pump lasted about 2 seconds. :hahaha:

stock carb, everything is hooked up right and the plastic spacer is their...  thanks but shes still not starting..

the pump probably isnt primimg then.
may have to do the old gas down the throat of the carb trick.
have someone dribble some gas from a cup or something into the carb while starting it.
keep dribbling gas in till the fuel pump picks up the slack.

but if it is losing prime that means you probably have a small hole or crack in one of the rubber lines alowing the fuel to return to the tank.

derek

Jared

ill replace all the fuel lines in the enginebay and see what happens...

there are also rubber lines at the tank.
so dont forget to check those also.

So when you look down the carb and open the throtle you don't see any gas squirting ? You got to try this while someone is cranking on it so the pump is working.

ooohhh and another thing, kind of a pita to check.
the pickup in the tank may be plugged.
undo the line and blow some compressed air back down it.
if some rust or something is there it should clear it.

Jared

no gas being sprayed.  somethings wrong.  did what you told me to runner and there is no gas squrting in it.

pull your carb of and take it apart and clean it or rebuild it i had the same problem with mine and there where some realy small pieces of a gasket or somthing in there and they would clog the jets i cleaned it out and it fired right up :beerchug: oh befor you do that to make shure it is the carb pull the fuel line off of the carb and put the line into a container like a pop bottle have some one hold it there then turn the key to the on position and see if fuel comes out, if it comes out at a deasent rate then its in the carb if id doesnt its somewhere else goo luck

#17
Start by pulling the fuel line off the carb and put your finger over it a while someone cranks the motor and see if it builds any pressure, if not most likely the pump. If so pull the inlet line of your inline filter and see if you can siefinĀ  :dunno: or blow through the hose back into the tank. If not blow compressed air through the line. Whats your location ?

look through the viewing glass on the flowt bowl, and see what the gas level is it should be about half way up the glass/ another thing to try is  block off the return line

Jared

WEll i took the carb off and i held  the choke down on my carb and pumpud  the throttle and what do you know no gas is being squirted.  so i borrow my friends carb and slapped it on tonight and it started right up.  then when it burned the gas that was in the  float bowl it stalled.  i think it might be the fuel pump even thoug i swapped it with one from the local pink n pull.

do you have the intank fuel pump (electric) or the manual?

Jared

ah the beauty of a cuttin torch

yotaboy79

oh ok never mind i have a electric left over from mine it works good enoph to keep it running but its not all that good i was thinking you could use it to see if it was the fuel pump

Jared

okay guys, she's still stalling... i need some help.  84runner, i might need your help soon its just that i have no money to buy beer pizza and to put gas in your tank...  :headscratch: :headscratch: :headscratch:
