take the drive line out  and  pick which end  you want to work at, take a  grinder  and remove the weld bead  from where the tube is welded  to the  yoke,   its a little ove 1/8 inch  to the yoke material,   then  remove it,

then  measure the  right amount to remove and  use  something  to  cutit that will cut a  perfect  square end.  a large pipe cutter is perfect  but  wrapping the shaft with a  full sheet of  sand paper  and taping it inplace  will work,   cut  and  tap the yoke back in place   and  befor you even tack weld  install and  see that it fits

if  its perfect  then  use a large piece of angle iron  to  place the shaft in,  alighn  the yokes on each end  perfectly  then  tack weld  , you MUST  make sure its  straight ,  tack in  4 spots  all around the tube,  then double check its right before welding up

You won't need a long slip for the rear. You may want a cv, but I don't know if it will be nesicarry either.
Hug your kids, pray for a soldier, and don't sweat the small stuff.

The rear DS won't move that much with it being in the middle so a longer slip joint isn't needed.
A CV joint might be good if you got one hanging around or can get a hold of one for cheap, otherwise you might be able to get away without it depending on how much lift you have and the angle of the DS.

Also here's a writeup I did on the sq. DS. Less pics then the one by MiniSimp, but a little more wording. Maybe the two of them together could make the perfect writeup.

ive done a square drive line before i just wasent sure about sleeving and all. i just cut the tubing off the yokes so now i just have to find the right size tubing to fit over flange(not sure what its called) then have a shop weld it up. i would but it wouldnt end up being straight. not gonna go with the CV for now, if i have problems ill ad the CV later. thanx for all the help. any personal experiance with runin CVs in the rear or not would b great

I've been running a CV in the rear for about 10+ years now and have had no problems with it. If or when you add on the CV, try to get one from an 84 or 85. The 84 is a little stronger, but sometime harder to find.
